Self Reflection - Why Be You?

This entire project was a long process, a lot of disagreements but even more “OMG We Are Geniuses!!!” moments. I got to say that our group did an amazing job, being the first group to setup was definitely a great moment to say the least, as we were confident, ready and prepared in every way possible. I got to thank Paul for always keeping us on track with all the tasks, making sure that we didn’t leave everything to the last min. Alicia was a great asset, never have worked with her, she was always ready to get things done.

This project had its roadblocks but as a team we got through them with the help of Steve and David, but also taking the time to research and carefully plan. The use of the different maps (Mood, Floor plan, Experience) helped the entire thinking process as we are usually thrown into a project with no preparation.  With all the planning I would say that our project stayed pretty consistent, where we never had to compromise the integrity of our work.

The day when we had the show we had come across a few key issues. One issue being the lack of sound getting through to the users, but thankfully the size of our piece helped pick up the slack in drawing users in. The other issues was the lack of proper lighting for our piece and because we used blob detection, the light hitting the camera reallydidn ’t allow for the motion tracking to work like intended. The solutions to these two problems were an easy fix as it was not in our control of the space and lighting of the show. However we did learn when taking work further to address these issues before hand.

Overall I enjoyed working with Paul and Alicia, as they made up for the things I lacked. We were a great team that worked in synergy.  From this experience I will take with me the great time management tools which I was introduced to, carefully planning and not jumping into a project. The greatest lesson from this project would be to learn to let go of great ideas, because in the end if carried out well, any idea has the potential to be great.

THE BIG DAY - Setup the day before the show.

So we got permission to work during one of Norm’s Second Year classes. It was a good thing too because we got a Norm Thumbs Up.

Some working progress…..

We needed to find a way to following users as the pass Hiedi, and at first we looked at Blog Detection from Reactivision. http://reactivision.sourceforge.net/

Then we solved this problem by jus using a much simpler and effective blog detection tool. http://v3ga.net/processing/BlobDetection/

Dave made us make a prototype in class, and we were determined to get it done.
