Technical Heartbeat Documentation
Artist Statement
Through advancements in technology, society has grown along with it. We are intertwined with the virtual world that the fine line that separates it and reality is starting to fade away. If technology (computers) was working towards something, its ultimate goal would be that of becoming more human.
Synopsis
The object of this piece is to show the similarities of both the computer’s heart rate (CPU usage) vs. the user’s heart rate. This is meant to create and experience to show the direction of technology, and how it’s moving toward a more organic and human like direction, and with more time a user and it’s computer will have a lot more in common.
User Experience
A User is placed in front of the two monitors - one which tracks CPU USAGE and the other the HEART RATE of the user. When the user places their finger over the sensor located on the mouse, the heart rate starts to show on the right computer monitor. The user is expected to compare the two readings and start to ask questions of doubt and realize a simplistic truth of where technology is.
